Re: BUG - Empty From => Spam
Hi Ian, Thanks for the reply. My post was made based on backtracking several spam emails from a mailbox, ergo, spammers are therefore exploiting this official rfc backdoor. Whilst I will accept that ME adheres to RFC, it also does not resolve the issue. Just something worth keeping in mind and it ma...

BUG - Empty From => Spam
Hi, This is a bug. Getting loads of spam the last few days where an empty MAIL FROM is specified and ME simply accepting the email as valid. Typical log entry looks like this: 03/20/17 08:52:01 SMTP-IN 8621F4FCCAC14668A41C072ADC057C5E.MAI 1692 201.141.17.127 MAIL MAIL FROM:<> 250 Requested mail acti...

Footers work, but only...
Initially I thought adding PostOffice footers did not work, but after a bit of experimentation, I found that it does under specific circumstances: 1. You must make sure you have both plain and html footers set. 2. You will now find it works by default from webmail - even when you see no results from...

Re: Outlook 2013 slow inserts/updates of Calendar and Contacts
Yes, excellent call. For future reference, it was AVG - disabled the email scanning part of it and it now works perfectly. Thanks again for the help!

Re: Outlook 2013 slow inserts/updates of Calendar and Contacts
Hi Ian, Yes it did and does. In fact, this is exactly how I got onto the issue. New customer, new postoffice, new mailboxes, 3 x Outlook 2013 with ME Connectors - same result ~30 seconds delay on posting to calendar and contacts. Everything else works fine, i.e. posting the same via ActiveSync or vi...

[SOLVED] Outlook 2013 slow inserts/updates of Calendar and Contacts
Anyone else experience slow inserts/adds of new calendar items and contacts when using the connector in Outlook 2013? Seems to always take approx 30 seconds before the item is inserted, almost like it is a timeout value of some sort.
Any help appreciated. TIA

Re: GeoIP not fully functional
I just have to add another a final note. After having run this feature now for a good while, I truly love the fact that the spammers keep on trying to authenticate (bruteforce) and even though their IPs get temporarily banned they keep on coming back for more after a few hours ... not suspecting the...

Congrats
I just want to send a congrats to ME for their Connector 2 and especially the latest one with the Out of Office etc. It is a huge improvement over the previous versions and also a lot more stable irw timeouts. One suggestion, please add the function that users can set themselves via both connector a...

Re: GeoIP not fully functional
Hi Admin, Yes, thanks for the nice explanation and tip on rather disabling the one hour lockout. Makes sense. Listening to your arguments, I am inclined to agree with you... for now... I'll also rather take speed over purpose, i.e. blocking based on cached data. As developer myself I understand that...

Re: GeoIP not fully functional
Hi Ian, Thanks for the explanation and yes, I can see how this may make logical sense to you - but it does not resolve the issue? You are looking at this short term, whilst we have to sit and watch how the same bots try 20 passwords every single day for years. And while you may temporarily block the...

GeoIP not fully functional
I have several cases of foreign IPs being allowed to bruteforce passwords when the account they try is on a postoffice set to allow only a single country to authenticate. The allowed country is ZA, and by implication country IT should therefore not be allowed to even try or have a successful connect...

Thank you
A big thank you to ME in 9 for adding a seemingly very functional GeoIP feature I originally requested on the Suggestions forum a few months ago - maybe a tad harshly - in frustration from bruteforce SMTP authentication attacks om the ME servers. This has already made a difference even if it has onl...

Agents
The Quota and Deletion agents are pretty awesome - but today it would be even better if it could work a little more smartly and actually start deleting (FIFO) emails as soon as the mailbox quota is to be breached such that the user loses a couple of oldest emails to make room for a new one but never...
