I've recently installed the latest version of MailEnable Standard Edition and am in the process of configuring the SMTP settings. We are wanting to lock down the SMTP settings to help keep our installation secure. From what I can see there are two areas of SMTP we need to secure. 1. Inbound email fr...

Thanks Ian. That was confusing me... Might be worth adding this in your documentation somewhere, as I couldn't see it.

Re: reply 550 This mail server requires authentication (1) w
Hi Yes that is correct. I've changed the settings as per your information below, and enabled 'all inbound connections require authentication' on the Advanced SMTP tab. I think I see what the problem is. When I've been testing I have been using the only email address I set-up (the postmaster email) f...

Ian, I'm experiencing the exact same issue as per my post here http://forum.mailenable.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=27421 that you have responded to. I'm running Windows 2012, MailEnable version 8.04 Standard Edition.

Re: reply 550 This mail server requires authentication (1) w
Hi Ian, Yes that is what I was looking for. However even though I enabled it as below; Require authentication for all connections: This setting will enforce authentication for all inbound connections. Any remote server that tries to send to a locally hosted address within MailEnable will require aut...

Re: reply 550 This mail server requires authentication (1) w
Thanks for your response. Even if I don't enter any more Privileged IPs, the external application is still able to deliver to my local mail boxes ? Is that correct ? Our mail filtering company informed us to perform the following; "To avoid hackers and spammers bypassing our system and delivering di...

I'm trying to configure a MailEnable Standard Edition 8.04 so that my clients who have local postoffices on the server can relay mail via the SMTP service. Also I need our external mail scanning company to be able to deliver mail directly to our server and the local post offices once it has been sca...

Windows 2012 Firewall Port 25 blocking
I installed Mail Enable Standard Edition on my Windows 2012 server. I noticed that by default Windows 2012 Firewall only allows port 25 traffic to the IIS SMTP server. If I disable the Windows Firewall, Mail Enable receives the mail fine from the Internet. I tried creating a inbound firewall rule on...

SMTP Inbound Wildcard IP Ranges
Is it possible to add IP ranges with wildcards for example, I know I can add this
83.246.65.0 - 83.246.65.255 as 83.246.65.*
But how would I add
94.100.128.0 - 94.100.143.255
It is a matter of adding
94.100.128.*
94.100.129.*
.... to
94.100.143.*

Hosting MailEnable on Amazon EC2 Instance
We are looking to move our MailEnable server from a dedicated server, to a Amazon EC2 instance. I've installed MailEnable fine on our EC2 instance. I've got a couple of questions, I hope can be answered; (1) When going through the installation I was asked to specify the domain name (typically the co...
