Robert, You can set a default Post Office to accomplish this. Go to "Servers" and right-click on "localhost", enable Default Post Office, and set the post office. Now users can authenticate with just their username, instead of username@postoffice. If you have mulitple post offices, you can bind each...

Text in "Grant Access" window for sharing resource
Hello, The text in the "Grant Access" window is confusing to me (visible through Options, Share, New Share). At the top of the window where you specify the user who you want to grant access to, it says "Please enter the name of the user owning the resource you wish to open". Is that completely out o...

SNMP monitoring of MailEnable
Hello, I'm glad to see that there are now performance statistics exposed to Microsoft Performance Monitor from MailEnable. I'd like to know if this means that these same statistics are also available via SNMP so we can log them with our monitoring server. If so, are the OID's available? Thanks, -Tom

Hello, Our server is using much more disk I/O since we upgraded from 1.6.720.4 to 1.8.100.0 over the weekend, and I am concerned it won't handle our mail volume during the business week. I have turned off SpamAssassin since that seems to be the most resource-intensive component. It occurred to me af...

In ME 3.14, the global filter setting has three options for Junk E-mail Processing: 1) Deliver to Inbox 2) Deliver to Junk E-mail Folder 3) Determined by postoffice settings Does this third option refer to the PostOffice feature "Deliver junk email to Junk E-mail folder"? If so, shouldn't this check...

Two things: 1) FYI, the non-Cygwin solution worked for us too. You have to remember to re-apply it every time you do an MxScan update, because the update will replace it with the Cygwin version. 2) The Cygwin ClamD seems to run fine on our server in the latest update (1.6.720.3), so we didn't have t...

3.14 is very stable for us right now, and we want to maintain our uptime rates for our clients. Doing an upgrade comes with inevitable reboots, offline time, unexpected issues, and tinkering that reduces our availability, not to mention consuming weekend nights that could be spent doing more critica...

That's good to know for our future upgrade. But we're still running on 3.14, and it seems unusual for the MailEnable guys to ignore a problem like this on a still-supported version. We're not planning to upgrade to 3.5 for several more months, so I'd really like a solution to this for the interim. -...

This is quite specific to our network, so don't just plug-and-play, but here it is: "v=spf1 ip4:66.202.85.64/28 ip4:68.178.207.165 include:intuit.com include:quickbooks.com a mx -all" The QuickBooks and Intuit references are to allow the QuickBooks mail servers to e-mail our invoices when we instruc...

The Backscatter module and the Backscatter.org RDNSBL helped filter some of it, but the sheer volume is what killed us, before the messages even got to MxScan. The SMTP/inbound queue had 15,000 messages in it waiting to be picked up by MxScan by the time I got to a computer to investigate. So I gues...

Huge Backscatter flood targeting single user. Suggestions?
Hello, We seem to be under an enormous backscatter attack, aimed at a specific user on our system, and I'm looking for suggestions for how to best deal with this. I'm reasonably positive this is not from a hack of our server. The bouncebacks show that the original messages triggering the backscatter...

I just noticed that the ClamAV updates only run once per day (I didn't read carefully at first, and I thought I was setting "hours" and "minutes" BETWEEN updates, not "hour of the day" and "minute of the day".) It seems ClamAV updates come out every couple of hours (about 2 hours between the last se...

I've noticed several times that the COUNTRYFILTER result doesn't seem to agree with the X-MXScan-Country-Sequence header. In this example, MXScan reports that the message came from Venezuela, but the COUNTRYFILTER didn't score a "3" as we have it set to do for Venezuela. X-MXScan-Country-Sequence: V...
