SMTP - Properties - Security - Use alternate welcome message

Post by dfridley »

This seems to work "unless" the client connecting is banned via Inbound Access Control.

In this case the banned client sees

530 xxx.xxxxxx.com ESMTP MailEnable Service, Version: 8.04-8.04- denied access

I like to hide the software and versions i am running from potential spammers/hackers, so i like that i can specify an alternate welcome message. If a client ends up getting banned then they see this information.

If i elect to change the welcome message shouldn't this apply for this error message and any others that show the software and version information?
