No SMTP Server was detected.....

Post by rKwasi »

I'm was setting up a Windows Server 2012 R2 VPS with the Plesk Control Panel this morning.

This is the 4th one I've done in the past month, all have used the same setups, although at different hosts, and have no issues with the 3 previous installs.

Today's installation has issues with email.

When I run Mailenable Diagnostics I get the dreaded
"No Server Detected - Warning - No SMTP Server was detected at this IP Address"
in the "SMTP Inbound Bindings Test" area

I've compared today's server to 2 of my other installs, all things look identical.
Same firewall settings on all servers, port 25 allows connections to "Internet Mail Server (SMTP)
Same settings in "SMTP Properties" across all servers except for the obvious domain names

Nothing fancy is being used on any of the VPS's

It's just that todays install fails miserably in emails

If I run an SMTP test over at MXtoolbox, it says it can't connect to the server.
But then again, everything says the ports are open and firewall settings are similar at all VPS's

Any ideas why I get that failure in the SMTP Inbound Bindings Test????

Very puzzling on this install.

Hi,

Restart the SMTP service and then open the SMTP debug log file and search for where the service has restarted. If there are binding errors on port 25 then this is your problem. You need to check if there is another service binding to port 25 (Microsoft simple mail protocol perhaps?)
