Can I use the same certificate for both IIS and MailEnable?

Post by C.I. »

I thought of installing MailEnable on this Windows Server 2019 where I have a few websites running. For IIS I use a multi-site SSL certificate. Can I use the same SSL certificate for MailEnable?

Hi,

Do you mean a SAN SSL certificate? Please see: https://www.mailenable.com/kb/content/article.asp?ID=ME020678

Yes it's a Multi-Domain certificate like Comodo PositiveSSL Multi-Domain or a Let's Encrypt one (have not decided yet).

I'd like to add to it domains for sites as well as a domain for MailEnable, like that:

site1.com
site2.com
mail.site1.com

What I need in MailEnable is POP and IMAP and SMTP (no web mail), so I thought of a Multi-Domain certificate like the above.

Users on MailEnable would have mail addresses like
user1@site1.com,
user2@site2.com,
user3@site3.com

but I thought site3.com is not required in the certificate as long as in DNS MailEnable is known as mail.site1.com.

Am i right or wrong? Please correct me if I am wrong. Also please correct me if this scenario is not possible with Windows Server 2019 and MailEnable.
