Is there a way to enable auto-reply for individual accounts to inform senders that they are away and their emails will be returned as soon as possible?

Not currently - Auto Responder Mailboxes will be provided in a minor update to Standard and Professional Editions. Webmail users will be able to configure their out of office reply from under the options tab. As mentioned in other forums, we will soon be posting a functional release schedule for the versions.
