New list feature explanation required

Post by Brett Rowbotham » Thu Oct 16, 2014 9:03 am

I have installed Enterprise 8.55/56 and have noticed that there are new options for list general item Send from.

I now see that the available options are Moderator address, List address (change envelope only) and List address (change header and envelope). Could I please get an explanation of the final two options (I'm assuming that moderator address is as it was previously and list address change envelope only is equivalent to the previous option of sending from list address).

Regards,
Brett

Hi,

The send from option to change both envelope and header "from" address is to cater for the new DMARC checks that yahoo and other large hosting providers now check for.

My tests show that when this new option is used, then AOL still bounces the e-mails to be received if an AOL account is used as the sender.

Recipient: [SMTP:n185ra@aol.com]
Reason: 521 5.2.1 : AOL will not accept delivery of this message.

The above message/error was using the new "change header and envelope" method.

Meanwhile it appears that the old "send as moderator" work-around we used is no longer being accepted by AOL. In today's example below which used this previously working method, the AOL sender is shown as NAME, moderator is "jeffco-owner", and the list is "jeffco". So NAME@aol.com posted to "jeffco" and subscriber OTHER-NAME@aol.com was unable to receive it.

Am I doing something wrong, Ian?

Did AOL change the rules yet again?
