WebAdmin - Restict number of mailboxes against general qouta

Post by isaak »

Hi,

I am currently running ME Enterprise 3.03.
At the postoffice options, under WebAdmin tab, I can configure that an Admin user can create a maximum number of mailboxes. As well as maximum mailbox size. So in order to give an admin user 700 MB, I can setup the maximum number of mailboxes as 10, and the maximum mailbox size as 70MB. But this is kind of a problem, for a hosting company selling plans with specific web space. We are forcing the admin user to have mailboxes with a limit of 70MB. What if he wants one mailbox to have 100MB? Then we have to modifiy the maximum mailbox size to 100MB, but to reduce the maximum number of mailboxes from 10 to 7. And if he has 7 mailboxes, he cannot create more accounts.

But it would be tremendously advanced and no need of any third party control panel, if there it would be a second option of space administration. Why not to choose a specific amount of space to give to a postoffice, and then the postoffice admin can administrate the space with many mailboxes he wants? Like if I give an admin user 700MB, he can create as many mailboxes he wants with the amounts of size per mailbox he wants. Lets say he can create 1 mailbox with 200MB, a second one with 250MB, a third one with 50MB... then after this, the admin user could create as many mailboxes he wants with onle 200MB left.

This way, we do not limit an admin user with a specific amount of mailbox and specific amount of space per mailbox. He owns his space and can manage it as he wants.

This would be useful for hosting companies, reducing investments on control panels. As well, would give WebAdmin better options of administration.

Do you thinks its possible to do this?

Something that I have found very useful in OWA 2007 is the ability to map remote drives. You can basically type in the path to a share that is local to the mailserver and all the files on that share are listed (provided you have permission to share it). These can mimic your standard share drives on the desktop (if desired), but can be accessed from anywhere without the need for VPN.
