After applying the certificate on the server we are getting messages in msoutlook or thunderbird mail client as
(The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that cannot be verified the target principal name is incorrect. How do I rectify the same. Request you to help us address this issue as there
are multiple domains which are hosted on the mail server and
when we used SMTP 465 we get the error when configured in outlook mail client or thunderbird mail client.

Hi,

Is TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 enabled on the server?

Are the clients configured to use the same name defined in the certificate?

We found that if the certificate is for "mail.domain1.com" the clients must use "mail.domain1.com" as the SMTP/IMAP hostname even if "mail.domain2.com" is pointed to the same IP address unless the client software has the option to allow any valid certificate.
