Initially I thought adding PostOffice footers did not work, but after a bit of experimentation, I found that it does under specific circumstances:
1. You must make sure you have both plain and html footers set.
2. You will now find it works by default from webmail - even when you see no results from any other client.
3. You have to set your Thunderbird / Outlook to compile / compose emails only in a specific format, i.e. HTML body only. Adding both Text and HTML or using Auto-detect will negate footers.
4. Footers doesn't work when sending emails via ActiveSync (even when you use rich text on your mobile)
Hope this helps someone else.
