Encrypting Login Credentials

Post by xlnddel » Mon Jan 04, 2016 6:53 pm

Hi All,

First of all I would just like to apologize if this is a duplicate thread, I am unable to find any other topic which clearly answer's my question and I need to be 100% clear before performing this.

We currently run a cluster setup containing two servers which replicate between the two SQL databases with a single mailstore. Currently our passwords are stored in a plain text format within the SQL Database meaning anybody with DB access can easily obtain a possibly "secure" password. With this in mind we would like to encrypt the passwords of our users, we can see there is an option under the Message Managers Property Security Tab to Encrypt passwords, but when reading through the documentation for mail enable it seems to state that this is for .TAB Flat files rather then SQL?

Can anybody confirm to me that we can use this function to encrypt our users passwords within the SQL Database without causing any issues with the cluster setup.

Kind Regards
