Cleanup utilty for postoffices not working

I have setup the cleanup utility to clean the Quarantine and Bad Mail directories and that seems to work just fine.
Then I setup a postoffice Mailbox Cleanup Agent to clean mail folders older than 180 days. This does not seem to work.
It's been 24 hours and all the old mail is still there.

'Enable Mailbox Clean-up Agent on this server' is checked and 'Polling interval' is set to 10 minutes in the 'Clean-up Server Properties'
The services have been restarted. Using ME Ent 10.31
What else needs to be done so this works?

Hi,

The purging agent works on the created date of the .mai file (message file). Therefore can you check the created dates on the server to see if the created date meets the criterion you have set for the agent? Also inspect the "Management" service log files to see if the agent is executing.
