MxScan install problem on Server 2008 R2
I have been attempting to install MxScan Lite for Mailenable on a virtual Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit system running on a Microsoft Hyper-V server. The MxScanEngine fails to install as a service. The only log error I can find is an Application Log entry that says it was unable to start the service. It is not shown in the Services list as it did not install. Any help would be appreciated.

After additional testing - attempting to register the MxScanEngine service manually using various copies of installutil.exe including the one found in "C:\Program Files (x86)\MxUptime\MxScanME\misc" - all with negative results. Well, I gave up.
I installed mailenable on a 32 bit Server 2003. Everything works fine there. Hopefully MxScan will be updated to run on more current servers.

I don't know if anybody is reading this but here is the latest. Mailenable has always worked great. Now MxScan also works great.
Webmail now has problems. My web is on a different server than email. I shared "C:\Program Files\Mail Enable\Bin\NETWebMail" on the email server (server 2003 32 bit) then created a web site with this share as the webroot (home directory) on the web server (server 2008 R2). This worked great when both servers were 2008 R2. Now I have problems. I remembered to turn on 32 bit compatibility in the web application pool. Then there were trust problems which I resolved. Now I seem to have a bogus default home page and I can't figure out where it came from. I get this error:

The "requested url" does not exist. If I access the site directly from the mail server it goes to the following page and works fine:
http://servername/Mondo/lang/sys/login.aspx
As a work around I am using a nonstandard port to access the mail server directly. (We are behind a NAT firewall.)
The actual home page is "default.aspx" which has code behind. I cannot find the code. Everything seems to be compiled into dll files. Why would I get a completely different path when accessing the same page from a share on a 64 bit machine?

Depending on the security settings, MxScan installs fine on Windows Server 2008 R2. The only caveat is that the initial installation has to be done when logged in as the built-in Administrator account (and not just a user with Administrative rights) on Windows 2008 servers and above.
Once the installation has been completed you can then run the MxScanConfig administrative program by running it as an administrator (http://wiki.mxuptime.com/index.php?titl ... erver_2008)
