File Access Error - Path Issue

Post by Slipkid »

I've just installed MailEnable Standard, and my first mailboxes aren't able to delete or create messages. I've found this error in the Application log;

General: (MailEnable Store Provider (c:\windows\system32\inetsrv\w3wp.exe) error: 0) [w3wp.exe] Failed to serialise index: E:\Program Files (x86)\Mail Enable\POSTOFFICES\thiscompany.com\MAILROOT\clark\\Inbox. A File Access error occurred when opening the file (was retried for 40 seconds). No data can be written.

It sure looks like it's got a path issue, as the double backslash isn't a legitimate path on the filesystem. (It's otherwise correct) Is there a way to correct this?

Thanks!

Try to reinstall it. Also, I think a long file name might be the issue here.

Hi,

The most likely cause to your problems with not being the create or delete messages is permissions. Download a file monitoring utility named "Process Monitor" from https://download.sysinternals.com/files/ProcessMonitor.zip, and create a filter in process monitor to filter on the w3wp.exe process. Then emulate your problems in web mail and review the output in process monitor and search for "Access Denied" errors. Also run the MailEnable diagnostic report and look fro permission failures in the report.
