ME020058 - BUG: The SMTP/MTA/post office connector crashes

The SMTP, Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) or Post office connectors crash.

Firstly check and ensure that the latest version of MailEnable is installed (see: there is sometimes a new message (usually SPAM) that finds a way to exploit a mail server or crash a service.  MailEnable will always release a fix or an update for any service that is crashing and view this in a serious manner.

Usually the only reason the MTA or SMTP fails is due to a corrupted message in its queues. Look in the following directories:

Mail Enable\Queues\LS\Inbound
Mail Enable\Queues\POP\Inbound
Mail Enable\Queues\SF\Inbound
Mail Enable\Queues\SMTP\Inbound

Look at the files ending in .MAI and see if there is any obvious corruption. These text files can be opened in Notepad.

If there are files in any of these inbound directories, try moving them out to a temporary folder and starting the service that crashed. A reinstall of the product does not clear these directories.
