Looks like ME does store the data in the SMTP_ACCESS table if using the SQL Server config for ME Ent. If that is true (and considering that MERO communicates with Mail Enable through the use of Mail Enable's own MEAOSM.Access component), and based on Mail Enable's documentation, I have to assume th...

If mero does not effect the SMTP-DENY.TAB file, where does it store the banned IP addresses for ME to use. Obviously MERO stores data in the database but ME does not use that database. where do these IP address get stored? I must reflecting on what I said earlier, "the SMTP-DENY.TAB file will alway...

Hello rockinthesixstring, i have enabled the connection dropping thing for several months now, and there are only 3 addresses in my SMTP-DENY.TAB file. How can this be? I am hosting about 20 domains and have a HUGE amount of spam coming thru my system. I have honed the filtering quite well (97%ish) ...

Hello andyhowie,

You haven't posted a response yet to our most recent correspondence. I wonder, did you ever resolve the problem?

Regards.

Hello andyhowie, This is getting interesting -- and your post was helpful but leaves a couple of other questions. The snippet you quoted from the log file seems to indicate that MERO is working properly to a point. Where the process stops is important -- so if you glance at the recent log files agai...

Hello andyhowie, If you open the MailEnable Administrator and look in: - Servers > Your server > Connectors > SMTP > "Properties" - then the "Inbound" tab > click the "Access Control..." button - are there any IP addresses listed in the "Access Control" dialogue box? The problem you're having might ...

Hello all, As a result of communication with Colin (from previous post) I have identified a minor problem which effects MERO users who have less than 100 IP addresses in their MERO database. If MERO in your system has more than 100 IP addresses then this problem does not effect you. If you have less...

Hello Smurf, Due to the size of the SMTP deny list and Dbase it now takes roughly 7-8 minutes to complete and during this time it appears to take 100% CPU. 422 seconds is an extremely long time for the process to operate. I suspect that your database is filled with many thousands of IP addresses. On...

Hello Colin, I've hunted in the code for the source of the problem. I can tell you these things: 1. MERO is working as designed. It's working properly. 2. MERO is designed to release 10% (or a maximum of 100) of the IP addresses on parole at one time. The problem you're seeing is simply that 10% of ...

Hi I installed mero a couple of days ago, and I wondered how long should it take to start paroling IP's? Hello Colin, Running MERO every hour is likely too frequent. I run MERO three or four times per day and I find that it's sufficient. MERO begins working immediately...but it's most effective aft...

If MailEnable's whitelist features aren't working properly then that issue would best be addressed at the source (by the MailEnable developers) -- I'd prefer to keep MERO out of that loop and focus its features on the SMPT-DENY list. I haven't experienced any problems with MailEnable's whitelist...b...

I would very much preffer to have such funcionality embedded on the actual MailServer So would I. But until the MailEnable developers build such functionality, MERO is a good solution. Seems "dangerous" to have autoblocking with no automated reverse processing I agree. That's why I created MERO. th...

MERO

Full Name: "MailEnable Repeat Offenders" I call it MERO. Download : free of charge for both commercial and personal use. What is it? MERO helps to prevent false positives in MailEnable's SMTP-DENY access list (sometimes called the "auto-ban" feature). MERO maintains a database of repeat offenders so...
