ClamAV

Hi,
I seriously recommend you to use clamd and clamdclient to connect and scan your messages. If you use clamav directly, you will find a lot of activity in your processor. I have included a link to my clamdclient a few posts up.

Regards,
Terrence

These programs are external to MailEnable. However I believe there should not be any problems with Enterprise Edition.

ClamD server

Hi,

If you are entirely windows, you may try getting CygWin to run clamd. I heard some guys tried it and the performance is still very good.

I am not sure if there is a spamd for windows, but you can certainly run spamd in the Cygwin environment. Overall, the gain in performance is still greater than the extra execution layer introduced by Cygwin.

Win32 SpamAssassin

Hi netblue, SpamAssassin has 2 modes of operation. 1) Call SpamAssassin.exe - This will load the application up everytime you call it. 2) Load spamd - This will load the application once into the memory and allows a client to connect to it many times. Many windows users are using SpamAssassin.exe, i...

ClamAV antivirus

Hi atinoco, The best way to use ClamAV is to use clamd because it loads up only once and runs in the memory waiting to scan for viruses. Clamd is not like the regular realtime virus scanners, it will only scan data through a client software. It works exactly like clamscan except that clamd stays in ...

Clamd Client

No worries! No question is stupid unless it is not meant to be a question. The clamdclient connects to clamd for scanning services, the client itself does not do the scanning and thus does not require any updating. Clamd currently runs on unix platforms only (as far as I know) and can be updated by ...

Performance of updates

Hi again, I just checked my server. It has processed over 500 emails today, and there are no orphaned files. Perhaps when I tried 60 emails at one go, some IO problems caused files to be orphaned. It looks way better than the first solution. bbenett, please do go ahead with the new version. It is mu...

Updated SpamAssassinPickup

Hi bbenett... thanks for the feedback. I checked through the codes again after looking at your post. Most of the technique that I am using is very similar to what most other people are doing. Feed the file to spamc and write the output to a temp file then rename as neccessary. Realized that this is ...

MTA Pickup for spamc of SpamAssassin and Clamd client

Hi everybody, I recently installed spamassassin and clamav in my unix based server and wanted to hook it up with mailenable on my windows server. Well, I have managed to get it to work. I have to create a pickup program for spamc/spamd and also create a windows client for clamd. For those who are in...

SpamAssassin

Yes, spamc and WinSpamc is more efficient because spamd runs in the background. Another problem is with the supplied MTA pickup for SpamAssassin. The codes show that it uses a loop to check for the exit of SpamAssassin. This takes up a lot of processing power. That means that not only is SpamAssassi...

MTA Pickup for spamc of SpamAssassin

Hi I have created an MTA pickup for spamc of SpamAssassin. I have just submitted it to the MailEnable administrators, not too sure when they will put it up, but anyway just to share. If anyone is interested, I can share the application. I can quickly do one for spamassassin.bat as well. The applicat...

you can have both smtp running if you assign different port numbers. You should leave port 25 for ME SMTP so that it would be used for recieving mail and sending mail the usual way. Then change the port number to something else (any number that is not used for other services in your computer eg. 252...
