Mail loop - possible bug?
Hi, I had some heavy load on a server today and found it was a mail loop (spamassassin was going nuts). It was triggered by what seems to be a broken message sent by a "NetPilot" device used by somebody we host email for. It is a PC based router/mailserver/firewall used by small businesses. I should...

I can't help with the specific problem, but I have always deleted the unused DNSBLs in the registry - there is an ordered list of names and then some keys with the parameters for each DNSBL. I only use Spamhaus and my own list of country zones (running on BIND), it seems to work pretty well. One sna...

This is easy - either add cn-kr.blackholes.us as a DNS blacklist or install ISC Bind DNS server and add the zone files from http://www.blackholes.us/
I block from about 6 countries so I copied all the zones into a single zone and run it as a single blacklist entry.

Here are some entries from the log file. The W3 standard log file indicates that a valid RCPT command was received and that the remote server disconnected before ME validated the address. The annoying thing is that the manual DNS lookups seem to be returned very quickly but no good reason why it tak...

SMTP delay when using blacklisting
Hi, I have noticed that when blacklisting is enabled there is a large delay between RCPT TO and the "completed message", something over 10 seconds. This is when using any blacklist - even just one on BIND running on the local machine. I also tested it by running queries from nslookup and random SBL-...

A domain hosted on my server had an attack - they were using "a_random_name@victimsdomain.co.uk" as the sender's address. I had a catchall set up on the domain but luckily noticed the attack early and switched it off! Last time I looked (a week ago, about a week afterwards) it was still getting 60/h...
