Re: Automatically Add Hackers to Firewall Block Rule

I have been working through a similar solution but when I add a line to the SMTP-DENY.TAB file it seems to disappear (presumably ME is removing it) a few seconds to a minute later. Is there a trick to working with this file?

Where did the Account Usage bar go?

We switched to Oceano a couple of months ago, and I just realized there is no longer an "Account Usage" bar in the top-right corner of the WebMail screen. Is that feature not included in the Oceano skin? We have the "Enable banner and usage display" option checked in Webmail properties, and I verifi...

Re: MXScan for Mailenable (AntiVirus and AntiSpam Plugin)

I can see how an RBL that contains Dynamic IPs (like SORBS) would cause an issue with a higher value for depth. But I really think we're missing out on some spam we could block, so I'd like to figure out how to look deeper into the server list. Perhaps in a future release, you could consider giving ...

Re: MXScan for Mailenable (AntiVirus and AntiSpam Plugin)

Hello, About five years ago, when I first started using MXScan, I tried setting the RDNSBL "Maximum header check depth" to 2 because it really sounded like it made sense to do so (if a message comes from a known spam source, even if it later passes through a server that doesn't appear on any blackli...

Re: How to require webmail outgoing mail transfer to the MTA

I, too, was under the impression that outbound mail from WebMail does NOT pass through the MTA. It is part of why we decided not to use the message archiving feature of MxScan a couple of years ago. Has this changed, or did I perhaps get bad information previously?

Re: IMAP-SSL

I've found that in Server 2008, you still have to use the WinHttpCertCfg utility mentioned here: http://www.mailenable.com/kb/Content/Ar ... D=me020479 even though that article says you only need to use that utility for 2000 and 2003. Has anyone else had to use WinHttpCertCfg?

Re: Last Login Info

Hello, I installed this script and it appears to work, thank you! I'm now wondering how literaly we can interpret this date. Does it get updated regardless of how the user accessed their account (POP3, IMAP, Webmail, SMTP-AUTH)? Are there any other actions that might falsely change this date and lea...

Use LDAP between MailEnable servers to prevent backscatter?

We have two MailEnable servers configured as edge servers in front of our main MailEnable server, accepting mail and handling the initial blacklisting and anti-virus scrubbing for inbound messages. These servers are configured with all of our domains and are set to SmartHost those domains to the mai...

Pattern matching in filters

Hello, I would like to create a filter that alerts us when certain patterns are matched in an outbound message (for example, a social security number in an unencrypted message) for corporate policy enforcement. I don't see any examples in the documentation, Knowledge Base, or forum for doing pattern...

Re: Non Delivery Reports - limit to local

Fred, I don't know of any new features to help with this, but we implemented the outbound server idea I mentioned in my March, 2010 post, and it's been working well on our servers. Our "main" MailEnable server smarthosts to a dedicated outbound distribution server, which has NDRs enabled. This is re...

Re: SMTP alt port 465 or 587 ?

My understanding from RFC4409 (http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4409) is that it should use port 587 for "submission", whether you're using encryption or not. Submission refers to a non-public, authenticated port (usually using SMTP-AUTH) that is used for account-holders to submit new messages through....

Re: Usernme and pass of sender

Is there a similar workaround for the POP logs? When a user authenticates with NTLM, the username does not appear in the pop-activity log. It does appear in the pop-debug log, but that entry doesn't have the IP address or session number, so it's impossible to correlate accurately. This makes POP tro...

Re: Archive ability?

Impatiently, I started tinkering with a batch file to use with the built-in filter feature to do what we want, and I'm 99% there with only one remaining issue. I set up a filter for each post office (using the "Where the message is associated with this post office" criteria to call my "mailenable-me...

Re: Archive ability?

Ian, Your Dec 20, 2009 message in this topic sounds like we can turn archiving for post offices on and off in the MTA Archiving properties page, but I don't see anything on that page to indicate I can do that. When I turn it on, ALL messages in and out of the server get archived to a single recipien...

Re: POP service crash

Ian, Would you consider adding a button somewhere (maybe directly under the "Enable Abuse Detection and Prevention" checkbox?) to clear this without having to restart the POP service? We hate to restart services in the middle of the day to solve a single user's problem. The Abuse Detection and Preve...
