Re: Does MailEnable have an automatic log file cleaner setting?

ok, I found a super simple solution to the problem... check out this VBS script that I can have the task manager automatically run... http://www.mssqltips.com/tip.asp?tip=1324 iDaysOld = 60 strPath = "C:\MyMailEnableFolderWithLogs\Logging" Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") Set ...

Re: Does MailEnable have an automatic log file cleaner setting?

ok, so that will automatically zip them up, right? Is there a setting to automatically delete them? -- Or should I keep them for some reason?

SMTP alt port 465 or 587 ?

We're in the process of changing our alternative SMTP port from 2500 and making it SSL & TLS. The question is: Which port would be better to standardize on? And will it make a difference for our users that use SSL or TLS? We'd like to standardize the alternate port and are leaning towards port 465. ...

Re: SmartHosting - docs are inconsistent and possibly wrong

What I did was go into the SMTP properties "relay" tab and add the privileged IP(s) of the other MTA sending servers that are using my server to smarthost or "relay".

Hope that helps,
John

SMTP outbound document clarification & sending limits

I was reading this MailEnable doc and I need some clarity. http://www.mailenable.com/kb/Content/Article.asp?ID=me020218 Specifically, the document says "This setting sets the inbound message size limit and is called a soft limit. The term "soft limit" means that the server advertises the limit to re...

Can we filter and forward email to another server?

I have some customers that are requesting that we filter their email for spam & viruses and then forward it off to their Exchange server rather than dropping it into a POP box for them to pickup. Is this possible?

Re: Not your standard Migration... v4.16

All the .tab files containing configuration data in the "config" root will be stored in database tables, however it is a good idea to copy the entire folder. Can I just use the provider utility to re-generate those .tab files from the database? I really want to avoid bringing anything over that I d...

Not your standard Migration... v4.16

I upgraded my old box from v3 to v4, then installed v4 on my new x64 box as a fresh install. I specifically didn't want to bring over any of the old configuration data other than the post office boxes. After connecting the new installation to SQL, I backed up the old database and imported it to the ...

Re: webmail does not run .NET

I would like to add that although the MailEnable Provider Migration Utility "warning" box that you have to hit "ok" to, tells you to setup a 64-bit system DSN of "MailEnable-SQL Server" the utility will toss an error that the "ME01" System DSN is not found... so, in my case I just created that "ME01...

It resolved all of my problems with high transaction times because the SMTP server isn't doing any of the RDNS/etc checking anymore.

Ian, With MXUptime do you recommend getting the Message Sniffer as well?

RPSMITH, that's what we'd like to use but the cost is too high for the number of domains that we have. This may be an option for some of the premium customers that we have.

Thank you both for your input.
