MX record lookup
We are finding that more customers than we would like do not have an MX record setup correctly. They complain all the time that they don't get mail from us. We learned that other mail servers try to find the MX record and if they fail they lookup the A record and send the mail via that address. Our ...

Me too!
I've been through most of the forums looking for an answer to this. We did not have this problem on the previous version until we upgraded to V. 1.6. Pro Now mail keeps getting stuck in the Inbound queue and the Outbound queue. The only way we can find to get it to continue on it's way is to stop an...

Yes,
I've even upgraded to the latest 1.14, but I cannot find any documentation on how to use Authentication. Does anyone know yet?

RBogan, Relax... We know how SMTP servers are supposed to work. I'm only gonna stop messages that are sent "to a local user from that local user email address" If it was not sent by that local user. I'm sure you will agree that 100% of any email messages sent to a local user from his own address (wi...

I have also found...
I have also found that the actual message file itself contains 2 or more "Received: from" in the header if it's from an outside (non local) user. It only shows 1 "Received: from" if it's sent from a valid local user. I'm working on developing a simple (fast) filter for the MTA pickup event that will...

I see what you are getting at.
Thanks for your response Guys, I had decided to sit down and diagram this out so you could understand what I am asking, but during the diagram process I realized that you are right. This is not a relay or authentication issue. Simply because it's dealing with incoming mail only. They never did send ...

Clarify Once More.
Okay... I want and "internet" server. I have an "internet" server. I do not want and "Intranet" server. My Relay settings are... Allow Relay To Authenticated Users Only. This means.... When someone sends a message (anywhere) they must Authenticate first. Am I not correct in assuming this? Now.... On...

Simply Asking
We are simply asking for the feature.... "Do Not allow Relay for Local Sender Addresses unless they have Authenticated before they send." Simply... "me@mymail.com" should not send to "me@mymail.com" unless I have "Authenticated". Already it works like this... "me@mymail.com" cannot send to "john@his...

Thoughts...
Merk, Thank you for your responses. I see how it is working... However, I come from a long background a mail servers. All of them that I have used "Require authentication to send to anyone". Even if I am sending to myself, it should require authentication (unless IP overide). I have very powerful sp...

Note:
"Allow Relay for Local Sender Addresses" is Not checked.
But I'm wondering if it is allowing anyway. Possibly the setting in the registry is still thinking it's active - even though it shows it's not.
Just a thought.

Clarify....
We use the mail server with "user authentication" so we can send mail from anywhere, but block spammers from using our server. This has effectively stopped spammers from sending mail through our server to other people, BUT.... Now they have resulted in just sending Spam mail to us from our own addre...

Thanks Guys, It's nice to get some humer once in a while.... But I have done the test myself. I can sent mail To me From me from any outside connection. Note: I cannot send it To someone else because it says "This mail server requires authentication" exactly and a good relay block should work. But T...

Relay is Allowing messages from me to me.
We use Relay settings... "Authenticated" and "Priveledged IP's".
Yet.. still messages are coming through to me from myself.
Should they not be stopped because they are not valid messages from me?
Thanks for any help.
I'm using Version 1.113.

Notice the use of the AddAttachment function multiple times below.
