you should probably email them directly if you want an answer since their monitoring of the forums seems kinda spoty. Anyhow, if you look at the download page for MEpro 1.15 there's a list of other bugs that it fixes as well as a couple of features they added ... i think there was only 3. The 2 i r...

So...umm...? ME team? What exactly does this latest version correct? If the com errors are still present...why should we update to this recent release? Why even bother? Don't give me a generic lecture regarding "updating being a personal choice". That's BS as we all know. I'm asking for facts here, ...

Actually there pal...your mistakes come from "assuming" things are different than what I'm communicating. Read your 2nd to last post...for proof. You'll find your assumptions are completely incorrect about my situation...so...it's not my fault that you get twisted around...as it's not coming from me...

Re: Smiles
Yes...I've been saying that I have had this problem........ I GET EMAIL FROM USERS ON MY SMTP SERVER TO ACCOUNTS THAT ARE NOT SERVED BY MY SMTP SERVER. FOR INSTANCE...YET AGAIN...A FOREIGN USER AUTHS TO MY SMTP SERVER TO SEND MAIL TO MY ISP ADDRESS. THIS SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO HAPPEN. Your 2 stateme...

Re: Smiles
Gonna try to break this down for you...so you'll understand MY POINT... I should always be able to send email from myself...TO MYSELF on my ME servers. That's a DESIRED...and LEGITIMATE function of not only ME, but any SMTP server. Only focusing on this fact is to completely miss my point, problems...

Re: Smiles
RBogan, Relax... We know how SMTP servers are supposed to work. I'm only gonna stop messages that are sent "to a local user from that local user email address" If it was not sent by that local user. I'm sure you will agree that 100% of any email messages sent to a local user from his own address (w...

Well...all I know is remote (and foreign to the server) users should not be able to auth to the SMTP server as a local user and send mail from "artificial" local accounts to legitimate local accounts. My servers are not open relays...yet they continue to allow open relaying. I'd call this a pretty s...

Oh...but guys...that's the way SMTP is "supposed to work"... (rolls eyes in a big way - again) I hope the couple of you that actually understand this issue are able to 1) Convince someone "important" there is a bug. 2) Motivate that "important" person towards fixing it. Thanks for the valuable input!

Its not meant to ensure the identity of the sender(in real-world human terms), its only meant to prevent someone from sending mail out from your server to another server by making sure they have an account on the sevrer. Do you see that word I highlighted for you? OUT... What I've been trying to te...

for the love of god............the email is being sent from a REMOTE location................where? I have no idea. That would be like me using your account, merk@clueless.com, from a remote location...........authenticating (or exploiting) against your SMTP server........and delivering that mail to...

Not a bug? Give me a break. Consider this scenario.... Once upon a time...a dude named Merk set up a mail server to require SMTP authentication for outbound email. He then set up an account called "merk@clueless.com"...under the domain name "clueless.com". One day...as merk was checking his email......

i might be wrong, but i dont think its an exploit only because the person is not sending out to the net, they are sending to your server. Authenticating as far as i know is designed just to prevent unauthorized users from sending out email to other servers, its not meant to stop email from coming i...

No... The email being sent in this scenario is NOT from an authorized user. The exploit exists because the "anonymous" originator of these emails is able to use the SMTP server as an AUTHORIZED user...which shouldn't be possible...given the security measures we have in place. The only way this would...

Okay...this thread has become almost comical... It's very interesting at how badly a couple of otherwise intelligent individuals can overlook one key element of a poor soul's post. Now that it appears you guys are trying to make the individual feel bad for asking (what you believe to be) ignorant qu...
