Re: Queued mail for delivery on SMTP Activity Log

Not that a 250 response code means a lot when talking about hotmail/outlook.com.

Search for "outlook silently discards".

Re: Default mailbox quota

Thanks Ian. Unfortunately, that does not set the default for new mailboxes, which is the problem I encountered. Under Messaging Manager, Properties, Administration tab, the default was set not to limit but new mailboxes were consistently created with a quota of zero KB. I set the above to on and app...

Default mailbox quota

Hi, I recently migrated my may server to a new host and updated to 9.14. I have found that, when creating a new mailbox, "Mailbox has a size limit" is checked by default and the limit is zero KB, even though there is no limit at the Post Office level. Is there a way to reset the default to...

Log file date format

I asked about this way back in 2005 but . . .

Why do we still have no choice but American dates (mm/dd/yy) in the logs? Surely it can't be that hard to provide an option.

Re: Can the logon user name be the full email address?

Don't understand why would you want an @ in the domain/PO name. Hope you are not renaming to something like that.

I just set up two POs with full domain names. Periods aren't rejected - unless perhaps you are trying to put a period at the beginning.

Re: Can the logon user name be the full email address?

Ah! Thanks for refreshing my vague memory about the default PO.

What may not be obvious is that the default PO is set under ME Management > Servers > Localhost.

Re: Can the logon user name be the full email address?

It will be if you name postoffice with the full domain.

It used to be that you just needed a mailbox name (and no postoffice name) to log in if you only had one postoffice.

I think that changed a while back so that ME always expects mailbox@postoffice logins. I could be wrong on that.

Re: Sending to disabled mailboxes

Thanks, Ian.

It's no big deal but I was curious as to whether it might be more efficient to reject at the SMTP step, rather than accept the message and have the MTA process/bounce it.

Sending to disabled mailboxes

I've noticed that the SMTP connector will accept a RCPT TO: for a disabled mailbox. It's not until delivery is attempted that the message is bounced with an NDR. However, when the SMTP connector gets a RCPT TO: for a non-existent mailbox, it will be rejected immediately as undeliverable. Shouldn't t...

Re: Oceano (double)click to open mail

Many thanks, Ian. I appreciate the reply.

I guess I've been conditioned by too many years of using Outlook :) Also moused over that icon too quickly to see the fly-out saying "View Message" .

Thanks again.

Oceano (double)click to open mail

I'm running ME 6.60 on Win 7 Pro and serving webmail from the built-in IIS 7.5. When I connect to webmail from my laptop (also Win 7 Pro) using IE 9, Firefox 10 or Chrome 22 (?) and hover over a mail item, the cursor changes to the familiar pointing finger associated with a link. However... If click...

Re: Need your advice authentication attempts failures

I've been using MailEnable Standard for about 9 years now. ME ran for a long time on a standalone machine but, since ESXi became free, ME has run as a virtual machine. The reason for virtualization was that I wanted to run my firewall of choice (pfSense), ME and a web server on one box. That has bee...
