Re: MXScan for Mailenable (AntiVirus and AntiSpam Plugin)

Hello,
I noticed that the RDNS Blacklist monitor feature sends email from "noreply@mxscan" which our mail server rejects as an invalid address. I can't see anywhere to change this address. Am I just missing something?

Re: POP3 & Windows Mobile Devices

We upgraded from v3.6 to v4.22 this weekend and moved from Server 2003 to a new Server 2008 machine. I was hoping this would improve our NTLM issues, but I don't think it has. In the past, we had not been able to get Windows Mobile POP or SMTP to work with MailEnable, but IMAP worked fine. If I turn...

Re: Non Delivery Reports - limit to local

Would this work?... We might have the option of adding yet another ME server to our setup, so it occurred to me that we could designate one server as strictly "outbound" and enable NDRs on it. This server would not be an MX for any domains, and it would not even answer port 25 from anyone but our ma...

Re: NDR Bouncing

MailEnable, We are using a second ME server as a backup MX and to offload some of the RDNSBL duties from our main server. That sever smarthosts our domains to our main server, which is (I believe) a legitimate and necessary instance of the server accepting invalid e-mail addresses that does not invo...

Re: Non Delivery Reports - limit to local

We've been wondering this too. Does anybody have any comments about making the "Do not generate Non-Deliver Receipts" option more flexible? ...or maybe a configuration that isn't obvious to me that would allow our customers to get NDRs when appropriate without generating backscatter? We use muliple ...

A long time ago, we set our submission port to "2525", so we've got a large number of users with this setting in their Outlook. I'd love to be able to ALSO accept submission connections on 587, but I can't think of a good way to do that (without a NAT-capable firewall to translate the port for me). ...

I neglected to mention that we've tried the "Purge" feature in Index Management and it just sits there for hours. I'm wondering if the mdb file has gotten too big, or if it has hit a 2GB limit and the program is no longer able to deal with it.
Thanks,

mxscan-Archive.mdb file very large and severely fragmented

Hello, We have been using the Archiving feature for a few months on a handful of domains to see how it works. I noticed today that the \data\mxscan-Archive.mdb file is now 2GB in size and contains 26,600 fragments. I'm assuming this file is just the index for message archiving. We haven't been using...

Are there any issues with reducing the POP inactivity timeout so drastically? For instance, would a dial-up user downloading a very large message be disconnected for "inactivity" (even though they are downloading data)?

Is it still safe to use freshclam.exe? I see that it has moved to a different directory, and the definitions files seem to be in two different places now. Is it updating the correct ones still?

When I un-check the "Global Settings" option for a domain in the Filter Actions tab, I expected it to enable the fields for editing, pre-filling them with the settings that had been in effect when the domain was using Global Settings. But instead, the domain takes on a new set of defaults different ...

Matt, It looks like the disk I/O issue wasn't actually related to MxScan, sorry! This one really had me fooled. Our "disk queue" in performance monitor was much higher than normal, and since Sysinternals procexp.exe reported MXSCANENGINE.EXE was the process using the most I/O, I thought that was the...
