I noticed when someone (not a valid user) connects to my IMAP service the connection will stay up until I stop my IMAP service. Shouldn't this timeout after a resonable amount of time? Is there a way to set a specific timeout period?

Have you told outlook express that your outgoing mail server requires authentication?

i.e., under Servers - Outgoing Mail Server - check the box for "My Server requires authentication".

I do it with a DNS redirect:

webmail.my-domain.com point to http://mail.my-domain.com/mewebmail

there is also a progromatic way to do it in ME and a quick search here should turn up several hits on how it's done.

My mail server hosts several domains but they all use a single website for webmail. This seems to work fine so why would I want every domain to have its own website?

why would anyone (other than a novice) run a mail server and not setup a MX record for it?

I'm using MEFilter (http://www.publicplanet.com/mefilter/index.html) to block .zip and just about every other extension. Even the best AV program can't claim it's 100% effective so blocking most attachments seems to be the best way to protect my users.

I'm using 1.16 RC5 and have had no problems so far. If you can wait a few days, I'm guessing 1.16 will be officially released.
