As an ISP we offer a best effort virus cleaning, but as you said, it is up to the client to protect their systems. Most of our clients use F-prot or F-secure. A few use Norton Corporate. By using Grisoft AVG we add an additional scanning engine to the mix.. The more engines in place the better the c...

Blacklist ratio to non-blacklisted

I am curious how many blacklisted senders are rejected compared to the ones that are accepted.

Currently we are seeing 1 in 6 are rejected for being blacklisted.

Forgot to mention... If you setup your AV engine (within ME) to e-mail an account on your server when a virus has been detected you really see how many are found.. use a different e-mail address for each virus scanner virus1@domain.com, virus2@domain.com, etc... You will enjoy seeing that viruses ar...

I know that it may be overkill to have 2 AV engines running on the mail server. If you look at the latest version of GFI's mail gateway products, they bundle 3 AV engines in it. Your e-mail server has to act like a virus firewall for your users. You can do what you can to protect the users before it...

They say two things go bad as you get old:

1) your memory
2) . . .. . uh... I forget the other thing.
The other thing can be found in your SPAM...

Big Eye... You can use the copy function in MEFilter for that.. I use it for a couple accounts (my kids) and it works great. If you want to base it on criteria, that would be a nice add-on to the filter.. to:bigeye@bigeye.com,bigeye_bb@bigeye.com,sender=littleeye@littleeye.com or something like that...

You can use a filemon and regmon utility, make a change to the skin and see where the changes are applied.

Martyn, Have to tried to remove and recreate the webmail folder for the site?

The setting would probably be available using MetaEdit to look at the internal IIS settings.

I have been able to refresh the folders and it worked.. other times it won't find sub-folders then you have to refresh again to re-subscribe to the folders.

The product has been great so far.. I am not using a lot of the holding functions, just the blacklist, spam and copy functions. I am not sure if this is needed by many people or not. It would be nice to be able to administer the filter via a web browser. This will allow for a great remote control ca...

I have also added the sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org config in my blacklist. It works great. You either need to create a new blacklist or be prepared to update the spamhaus entry after each ME upgrade. The ME upgrade resets it to sbl.spamhaus.org

F-prot does not allow you to exclude a directory. It is in the FAQ @ www.-f-prot.com. If you turn off real-time protection, it works much better. I recommend not installing it. After some updates, I have seen that it was automatically started again. I have configured both Grisoft AVG and F-Prot on t...
