Re: EHLO blocking - extension

Thanks Brett - I appreciate your taking the time to reply.

It seems this could really be an opportunity to kill spam before it enters the system.
Perhaps if ME were to broaden the scope of the EHLO Blocking function - it would be a good tool to present an early detector of bad mail.

Re: EHLO blocking - extension

I agree - stopping bad mail at the EHLO results would be a good solution. I have been working with EHLO blocking today and cannot see where it is doing what it is supposed to. Does anyone know where the ME log file would be to see the EHLO block results? Looking in ex(date).log I can see the EHLO re...

Re: URL Blacklisting configuration

How are we to know when the URL Blacklisting is FIXED? Also on the DNS Blacklisting - where in the logs (which log file) can we see where the mail is "not accepted?" Thanks - Appended: Log files are in the "Logging" folder - each file is based on the date (i.e.- ex161225.log) You will see the IP add...

Re: New Server - avoid Gotchas?

This link helped us when we did the migration a few months back. http://www.mailenable.com/kb/content/article.asp?ID=me020073 Basically you install MailEnable first to get it working. You'd need to give ME Support details on the errors in order to help with resolving those. Webmail and webadmin erro...

Re: URL Blacklisting On MailEnable Standard

Doesn't anyone read more than the last thread in these posts? Yes, the DNS blacklisting part is working - Barracuda Reputation Block List is an IP based block list - works fine. Underneath it in the SMTP Properties settings area is a place claiming to do URL Blacklisting. URL would be domain name lo...

Re: URL Blacklisting On MailEnable Standard

I hate to open this thread back up again - BUT... I just installed the upgrade --> Version 8. Everything looks great as usual. Can anyone tell me if the "URL Lookup" discussed here - now works correctly and can do URL lookups through SURBL lists of URL names? Or is this still looking up IP Addresses...

Re: URL Blacklisting On MailEnable Standard

There is no reason to submit a ticket as there is nothing broken or repairable. The problem is that your are not providing what you claim to have included in your features. I will try to explain. Most spam contains a payload. The payload is almost always the domain name URL of the target site and th...

Re: URL Blacklisting On MailEnable Standard

No reply? SMTP Properties | DNS Blacklisting tab [checkbox] Enable URL Blacklisting "URL filtering will check in the body of emails against DNS blacklists to determine whether it is spam." No it does NOT. It just checks another IP list of blocked IP numbers. Same as the section above it. [checkbox] ...

Re: URL Blacklisting On MailEnable Standard

MailEnable URL Blacklisting is a lie. After seeing that MailEnable (ME) Pro version created a new function for URL Blacklisting we deleted the old MEfilter (which by-the-way was doing a great job of URL lookups). But we figured since ME had it "built-in" now we could go without MEfilter. Then we fin...

Microsoft Security Essentials

Has anyone gotten the comand line scanner to work for Anti-Virus? Now that MS had wrapped all their security packages (Windows Defender, Malicious Software Removal Tool and an Anti-Virus tool) into one free package it may be worth while to test it out in command line mode. We could not find the resu...

Update on issue - resolved

Resolved this issue - it turns out the customer had the message stuck in his Outlook outbox - must be some type of infection or corrupt PST file issue. We found this by putting a filter onto the top of the filter list to trap any new email with this subject line. We found the messages were arriving ...

81 duplicates and still coming

Upgraded to 2.38 last night in order to get rid of that annoying updates pop-up that didn't work and now we have started getting the same email delivered more than 85 times. The same message just keeps getting sent to us twice a minute or so. Can't seem to find anything in the queues or see anything...

Takes focus away

The worst thing about it is it takes the focus away from whatever you happen to be working on. For example if we are in MEfilter and dealing with the holding area - the thing pops up and MEfilter no longer has the screen - the focus has automatically switched to the non-working pop up.

Instead they have an annoying desktop pop-up box (that doesn't even work) that activates every 2 minutes or so reporting that there is an "update available" even when your system is fully up-to-date. The worst part is it "takes focus" when it pops - so whatever you happen to be working on at the mom...
