Fighting Hackers
Hello, I know these issues have come up a million times but i've yet to find an answer in any of those threads or anywhere else. Before i go any further, here's a snippet of the SMTP activity log that is in question (i've changed my domain to local.server in the log, i've also taken out the long nam...

Re: Invalid Email Account Login Attempts
I believe it... For the last couple years i've been using MMC. I add the IP Security Policy Management snap-in and block IP's through there. There's several problem with this: 1) It doesnt notify you if you are entering a duplicate. I dont see duplicates happening but if the filters were to fail for...

Re: Invalid Email Account Login Attempts
MailEnable does block the IP address for up to 1 hour. Another way of doing it if it is the server is to use RDPGuard. Don't let the name fool you as it can block other forms of connections to the server. With this, you can set it up to block IP addresses for as long as you want before it auto dump...

Re: Invalid Email Account Login Attempts
I still havent found a solution to this but I do have a simple feature request that could resolve this. One way people are bypassing the protection is by trying hundreds of DIFFERENT names. So since they failed logging in as root, they try postgres, fail again and they try admin, fail again and they...

Opening Junk Mail
I have version 8 and was wondering if there's an option anywhere that makes it so that when you open email in the junk folder, it blocks images and links? For example, junk mail that has images attached to a specific image on the hosted site will load, indicating to them that you have an active emai...

Re: Looking for suggestions regarding this spam
Thank you Ian!
Do you know if this bad practice to do? Or with this mail client, is this actually a good practice?

Looking for suggestions regarding this spam
Hello! So i've been actively, over the past 3 years, trying to strategically block spam emails to reduce the amount of spam coming in to my server. I think i've done quite well but this appears to be a never ending process (i firmly believe its never ending). One of the trends i've noticed is that a...

Re: Slooooooow WebMail
I dont have an antivirus or firewall on my server (aside from windows firewall, which is on). Not sure about others?rfwilliams777 wrote:Do you have a resident antivirus? It may be possible that when the folders and files (emails) are reindexing that the antivirus is running/scanning the file activity.

Re: How to block this?
So I did find the filters and have made a few. I had found them before but couldn't figure out how to apply filters, i could only add a name. I completely ignored the right side menu and the right click menu.

Re: How to block this?
Thank you for your response rfwilliams777. I forgot to mention my settings for those (and probably others too). In the IP Blocking tab, i do have that checked and have the number of reports set to 1 (this should probably be 3 or higher, but no complaints yet) and i have it expiring after 720 hours (...

How to block this?
I apologize if this or something similar has been answered before, but I have looked with no luck. Below is the headers of an email i commonly receive. I am trying to figure out how to block these emails but nothing seems to be working. Received: from AXNMIGSC ([203.247.149.153]) by {mylocaldomain} ...

Re: Invalid Email Account Login Attempts
Is there a way to force mailenable to run a traceroute on every login attempt to try and block connections at the source IP rather than the random proxy IP's these hackers use? It would take a few extra seconds for each login attempt but that would decrease the amount of login attempts by hackers by...

Re: Invalid Email Account Login Attempts
I'm wondering, is there a way to add a fairly simple CAPTCHA to the login page? That probably wouldnt work because if it was forced, then mobile users couldnt login with Android apps and hackers could just attempt to connect using a non-web based protocol. What about authentication similar to a bank...

Re: Invalid Email Account Login Attempts
You can try something like this: http://forum.mailenable.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=27469 Cheers, Brett I like the idea but there's a couple problems with it. First, it doesnt unblock them after X amount of time, which it needs to due to the second reason, which is the IP addresses. When scanning my l...
