Outlook freezes when composing email

Post by gregorio »

When composing a new email, Outlook will freeze for roughly 15 seconds, up to a minute or so. Outlook and the email window are both unresponsive. There's no message notifying what it's doing. It doesn't happen all of the time, but occasionally.

(I'm using the ME Connector v1.33. Outlook 2010 32-bit)

I should point out that I had been using Outlook 2010 for months with only a POP3 account set up. It had been working fine, with no freezes. Only after I switched to using only a ME MAPI account for my email needs, did it start freezing.

It'd be nice if a message popped up, explaining what it's doing. Along with, maybe, a progress bar.

I'd like to offer the MAPI Connector to customers, but freeze issues (without atleast a window explaining what's happening) may shake their confidence.

Thank you guys,

Greg

We see the same problems with a lot of customers. Including my own account.

It freezing even when change from one mail to another in the inbox.

I'm using Premium 4.26, Outlook 2010 and Windows 7 32 bit. and the newest connector 1.35 .

Is there any way to work around this issue?

What are your server configs as far as memory?
How big is the mailbox?

I am using Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2003 and all have the same issue. I dont think its an issue with Outlook unless it is a setting.

My server is a Windows 2008 R2 with 8 GB RAM, and I can't see any problems with this.

How big are your mailboxes? How many domains do you have on your server?

I have 8 GB RAM and about 100 - 150 domains approximately 900 users. Its on a 2008 R2 server. RAID 1 Dell Power Edge.

I've noticed that it is Outlook 2010 which is causing most troubles, and primarily when changed from one unread to another unread mail.

Hi mike,

I've only used the Connector with Outlook 2010 on Windows 7.

The delay is because Outlook is saving a draft of the email to the server. Which is fine-- but my question is: can we get a message popup or display somewhere stating that this is happening? Instead of a sudden, unexplained freeze of the entire Outlook application.

Thanks,

Greg

On the same account which have been freezing on the connector and outlook, I've change the account to an regular IMAP connection. It works fine - no freeze, no delay.

So its the connector which are causing the system to freeze.

Just about any action I take freezes my outlook 2010 (64). Deleting an email is especially painful.

Hard to sell this product when it behaves like this.I've reinstalled, fiddled, etc...no joy!
