Username or Password is incorrect

Postby bruce2400 » Thu Apr 26, 2012 1:29 pm

I have been trying to get ActiveSync to work on my server for that last 2 weeks and I keep running into the same problem "Username or password is incorrect". When I run this tool http://www.mailenable.com/Tools/ActiveSync it comes back with "Success: The server supports ActiveSync" and "Success: FolderSync command succeeded" however when I run Microsoft's test tool https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/ I come back with

"An HTTP 401 Unauthorized response was received from the remote IIS7 server. This is usually the result of an incorrect username or password. If you are attempting to log onto an Office 365 service, ensure you are using your full User Principal Name (UPN)."

Any idea why I am getting this?

Thanks,
Bruce

If you pass the MailEnable online test, then you should be able to configure devices and connect fine.
In terms of the MS online verification test, most likely its because the details entered/terminology do not match.
In MailEnable's terminology, the DOMAIN you would enter is the name of the postoffice (not - this is not necesarily the domain name).
The user name is the Mailbox name.

Thank you for the response it was a bit helpful however I am running into another issue which as far as I can tell is the underlying problem. I’m trying to run the Microsoft Office Outlook Connectivity Tests on https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/ and getting errors. Here is what I am entering into the Remote Connectivity Analyzer.

The first concerning error is
• Attempting to test potential Autodiscover URL
https://************.com/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.xml
• Testing of this potential Autodiscover URL failed.

The second error is
• Checking the IIS configuration for client certificate authentication.
• Client certificate authentication wasn't detected.
• Additional Details Accept/Require
• Client Certificates isn't configured.

Lastly I’m getting this
• Attempting to send an Autodiscover POST request to potential Autodiscover URLs.
o Autodiscover settings weren't obtained when the Autodiscover POST request was sent.
• ExRCA is attempting to retrieve an XML Autodiscover response from URL https://*************.com/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.xml for user test@**************.com.
• ExRCA failed to obtain an Autodiscover XML response.
• Additional Details
o None of the expected XML elements were found in the XML response.

When I try to go directly to https://**********.com/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.xml and put the username and password I get this
<Autodiscover xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/responseschema/2006">
<Response xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/mobilesync/responseschema/2006">
<Culture>en:en</Culture>
</Response>
</Autodiscover>

Mailenable however seems to be fine when I run its test, I get success every time.

I have tried setting up outlook with exchange with no success and have also tried setting up my Android phone however the error I am getting is “Invalid Username or Password”.

Any idea on what I am doing wrong or something broke?

Hi Bruce, I replied to your message via the ticket you have raised, we will post here with the outcome.
In the interim, I will post some of the information in case others may be experiencing similar issues.

Before attempting to configure ActiveSync, you will need to configure your server/network to support it.
We provided the EAS deployment guide to assist in this, but the steps are complex and often depend on the configuration of the server.
http://www.mailenable.com/activesync/EA ... _Guide.pdf
The good news is that we have recently revised the ActiveSync Configuration Manager to simplify the process.
It will be included in the next minor update, but can be downloaded here:
http://www.mailenable.com/tools/activesync/mam.zip
To update the utility, simply copy/replace all files in your Mail Enable/ActiveSync folder (most of the files should already exist).
The Utility can then be run under the MailEnable program group.
Regards, Andrew
