EAS Licensing Server Outage?

Looks like you guys had a really rough day. I know what that's like and I can sympathize.

Can you tell us what happened? I suspect your problems were more extensive than just one down server since everything went offline or was spotty at best. Were you hacked?

Is it also possible to change ME EAS so that the service keeps working if your licensing server goes down in future? From my perspective I don't see how this would be a problem since any downtime would be minimal so someone would not be able get away with using service for free for more than a day, for example. Does this idea have merit or am I missing something?

Response would be appreciated and as customers I think we should be more informed about this and how ME can prevent outage for all EAS license holders in future should you experience another server failure.
