WebMail Mail Sending Problem

Post by efeerdogru »

Hi,

We're using ME SEd and upgraded to latest version (5.5). From Webmail, when we try to send e-mail, mail won't be sent. And the mail is in both "sent items" and "drafts" folder. We can use SMTP and POP3 feature without any problem.

The log file is below.

09/20/11 20:12:21 FOLDERS-LIST erdogru.net efe \ 0 0 ESX30-1710\IME_USER
09/20/11 20:12:48 MESSAGE-READ erdogru.net efe \Drafts\26C6F6F8DD314B728988B14B289E101C.MAI 0 0 ESX30-1710\IME_USER
09/20/11 20:12:49 MESSAGE-SEND erdogru.net efe \Drafts\26C6F6F8DD314B728988B14B289E101C.MAI 0 0 ESX30-1710\IME_USER
09/20/11 20:12:49 MESSAGE-DELETE erdogru.net efe \Drafts\26C6F6F8DD314B728988B14B289E101C.MAI 0 0 ESX30-1710\IME_USER
09/20/11 20:12:49 MESSAGE-DELETE-FAILED erdogru.net efe \Drafts\26C6F6F8DD314B728988B14B289E101C.MAI [Err=57] 0 0 ESX30-1710\IME_USER

But WebMail can delete mails 'cause I can delete them from delete icon, log file is below. And this tells no permission problem on folders, isn't it?

09/20/11 20:13:23 MESSAGE-MULTI-DELETE erdogru.net efe /Deleted Items\ 0 0 ESX30-1710\IME_USER
09/20/11 20:13:23 MESSAGES-LIST erdogru.net efe \Deleted Items 0 0 ESX30-1710\IME_USER

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Have traced through the MailEnable log files to determine what is occurring after the web mail has been sent from the web mail interface? Use the message tracking to help you search through the log files. More information about how to track messages as they pass through MailEnable can be found within the following article: http://www.mailenable.com/kb/viewarticl ... 020252.htm

Did anyone figure this one out?

I'm having the exact same problem with version 8.55 with the [Err=57] issue, except that the user trying to do the deleting is the IME_ADMIN account. The message tracking doesn't seem to find the message coming from the webmail interface but is catching messages coming from an Outlook client via the connector.

Also, when sending from webmail, I get the following error:

Address Resolution Problem
There was a problem resolving some (or all) of the recipients of this mail message.
The following Recipients could not be resolved because of ambiguity:
Address: Reason:
[SMTP:&lt] Address Format is Invalid.
Note: Recipient Addresses must be delimited by semicolons or commas and must be formatted as valid SMTP (Internet) addresses.
Examples:
dave@example.com

It is somehow thinking there is a "<" in the "To:" address? It does the same thing in Chrome and IE11 - with and without compatibility mode. I've also tried inserting the recipient as a contact and as a typed in address, all the same result.

I'm not sure what else to try.

Hi,

Where is the Err=57 reported? Can you post up the full error details.

For the web mail sending issues what is the exact address your sending to? Is there any Windows event log errors reported at the time? Does the same issue occur for a mailboxes sending from web mail?
The message tracking doesn't seem to find the message coming from the webmail interface but is catching messages coming from an Outlook client via the connector.
Can you provide more detail when you say: coming from an Outlook client via the connector. What connector?

Was this issue ever fixed. I'm experiencing the same thing where other client are able to send emails to both local and remote addresses but the webmail client is not sending emails. I have pretty much the same logs for the webmail client as initially mentioned.

And there are no SMTP logs (activity, debug and W3C) indicating that the mail sent via the webmail client ever reached the SMTP service.

Thank you for the speedy reply.

Hi,

The check the MTA agent log files to see if the message is being routed from the postoffice connector queue after you hit send.

The MTA logs show no routing information for the date and time that I am trying to send the email from the webmail client.

Anything else I can do or check to try to get this working?

Hi,

The next step would be run "Procmon" (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sys ... nitor.aspx) and filter on the "w3wp.exe" process and monitor to see what happens when the message is being created and then placed in queues for any permission errors.
