Inbound TLS not working in ME Standard 9.10
Inbound TLS not working in ME Standard 9.10
Hello,
after updating to ME Standard 9.10, I set a wildcard certificate in localhost SSL settings. Then I activated outbound TLS and inbound TLS (alternate port 587 requires SSL, standard port 25 does not require ).
Outbound TLS is working. However, "Enable inbound TLS" setting is not saved when leaving the configuration window with Apply/OK and re-entering it (with our without SMTP server restart). The setting is always reverted back to not enabled. Hence, STARTTLS ist not advertized for ulc-moedling.at
What's the reason for this?

Hi,
Please re download the standard 9.10 kit on the downloads page as its a revised version with a fix for the TLS option problem not saving.

Re: Inbound TLS not working in ME Standard 9.10
Ian,
thank you very much. STARTTLS is now advertized.
Another question: If I connect via TLS and port 587, the connection attempt fails. If I try via SSL and port 587, it succeedes. Both was tested in Gmail Webmail.
In Android Gmail SSL/TLS via 587 is working, STARTTLS via 587 is not working (invalid SMTP response).
The same holds for IMAP via port 993 in Gmail for Android: SLS/TLS is working, STARTTLS is not.
Is this by design?

Hi,
Disable "Requires SSL for port 587" and only leave inbound TLS and outgoing TLS for SMTP.

Re: Inbound TLS not working in ME Standard 9.10
Ian,
thank you.
Now STARTTLS (Android Gmail) and TLS (Gmail Web) is working for SMTP.
IMAP with STARTTLS (Android Gmail) is not working yet:
IMAP listens on port 143 (no SSL required) and on alternate port 993 (SSL required). If I disable SSL requirement for 993, Gmail cannot connect neither via STARTTLS nor via SSL/TLS. If SSL is required for 993, it can connect via SSL/TLS (not via STARTTLS). There is no TLS option for IMAP in my eyes.
Is this intended?
thank you.

When you said this, did you mean (or does it imply that) "the STARTTLS command is only available in an SMTP conversation" ?
Or asked another way:
Will the IMAP connector ever advertise a capability of/accept a command of STARTTLS?

Where in the current version of Male Enable, do you do this?
