Changing spam folder directory

Post by turklerinburak »

Hello there,
When I enable the DNS Blacklist, unsuitable mail falls into the Spam folder.

The system works very well.

But I have a problem.

People communicating with Outlook or any other program via POP will not see the spam folder. They need to connect with IMAP.

How can I make sure that users using POP can see emails in the spam folder?

Thanks.

Hi,

The only way to subscribe to the mailboxes "Junk E-mail" folder is to connect via IMAP and then subscribe to the custom folder. POP does not synchronize folders it only downloads messages from the server to the client into the "Inbox" folder. Therefore your users will need to create a new Outlook account connecting via IMAP. You can add another account in the same Outlook profile for this. This will allow the users to then drag messages out of the inbox folder that are are local to the Outlook POP PST into the inbox folder of the IMAP account so that the messages are then pushed back to the server. Once done they can then remove the POP account from the Outlook profile.

Can't we move the junk folder under the Inbox?

Hi,

No because POP does not support folder subscriptions.

Hi,

Yes in all versions. Its the way the POP protocol works. This will be the case on other mail servers that provide POP connectivity.

I think the enterprise and premium version has spam reports
would that not help ?
I mean the users get a spam report for the spam emails they have in junk mail folder,
and they would get to check the spam report if any important email is not held,
Only in case of mail release they will have to login to webmail and do it,

thanks
