Spam arriving not addressed to user

Post by benny »

Hi all
Im getting a lot of spam with "To: Devon" and other names. Obviously the are not authenticated users on the mail server. I have currently 6 domains on the server but there is going to be many more in the not to distant future. Does anyone know how to filter these emails. I am just using the filters with Mailenable and at this point not MEfilters.

Normally this is because the mailbox name was passed when then SMTP servers were actually talking but the name is not in the physical email.

Its a common spamming method which allows a single email addressed to someone to be sent to random names.

Hi Thanks for the reply, I have downloaded and paid for Mefilters but at this point not installed it as I have not the time to work out how to use it and I am also running MailEnable on customers location where I cant install MeFilters and I need to aqaint myself with standard MailEnable filtering (my server is also a quinea pig)
