SMTP Connector Stopped

Post by benny »

Hi All
Im not sure why but last night all external emails stopped arriving to the server. I checked log files and all I could see was this
(recv) socket [296] disconnection from host 192.168.1.4 before any command received. Error (10054)
The same error for 127.0.0.1

I rebooted the server several times checked what I could then all of a sudden it started working again for no apparent reason. I have just started to move my clients emails onto the server but I have to stop until this probelm is resolved. I am running the latest version of Pro

"Stopped arriving to the server" by this do you mean that they were not making it to the MailEnable server/queues? Or if they were making it to the server which queue were the messages waiting in?

Hi and thanks for the reply
It seem they were not making the server queues, tried testing connection from dnsstuff and got message that it could not contact the server. Everything pointed towards external problems but the webmail worked fine and I could also send internal email.

Sounds like something was blocking port 25, try a telnet next time your server is down and check the results of port 25 and 110. This may help you work out whether the problem lies with your server or firewall or even something remote of the server. MailEnable is able to send locally when it is not online so this does not tell you anything by itself.

Thanks for that.
I have currently no firewalls running I tend to agree it might be an extrnal influence causing the problem. I am still trying to familiarise myself with MailEnable as I have not long purchased it and currently running my server along with a customers server.

Again thanks for the support
