450 4.7.1 Client host rejected: cannot find your hostname

Post by labsy »

Hi,
something weir is happening here on my server. My server has 4 IP's:
1.2.3.1 [something]
1.2.3.2 [something]
1.2.3.3 [web server]
1.2.3.4 [MailEnable]

In my SMTP logs I find lots of this:
450 4.7.1 Client host rejected: cannot find your hostname, [1.2.3.3]

How can this be, since this is IP of my WEB server, not MailEnable?
But after some digging, I found out that this happens only if you send mail from WEBMAIL. But also WEBMAIL IIS service is running on MailEnable's IP, which is correct.
So where does SMTP server gets this IP?

Weird...& solved.
Somehow Outbound IP on SMTP settings changes by itself  I don't have any idea how it happens, but it is not the first time that I had to change it back to proper settings.
