[SOLVED] WebMail not displaying HTML email correctly

Post by berridgeab » Wed Aug 12, 2020 9:59 am

Hi there

We've just installed Mail Enable Professional 10.30 on a new server using Windows Server 2019 and moved all the configuration / post offices from a older machine.

After completing this Mail Enable Web Mail was not displaying a particular HTML email correctly. Web Mail did display the email correctly on a previous server (Windows Server 2012R2 - Mail Enable Professional 10.28). It would also display the email in Microsoft Outlook.

I examined the MAI file to look for issues.

The Content-Type header used mixed case for its mime-type. i.e.

Content-Type: Multipart/Mixed;
Content-Type: Multipart/Alternative;
Content-Type: Text/Plain;

I made a copy of the MAI file, and adjusted the Content-Type header to use lower case for its mime-type i.e.

Content-Type: multipart/mixed;
Content-Type: multipart/alternative;
Content-Type: text/plain;

After adjusting the mime-type to lower case Web Mail would display the email correctly.

It seems Web Mail has a problem displaying emails if the MIME type is not in lower case however email MIME types are case insensitive according to RFC 2045 5.1. Is this a known bug / should I file a bug report?

Hi,

There was an issue addressed in the 10.31 beta in web mail that you may want to upgrade to to see if this addresses your problem. If the upgrade does not help then please lodge a support ticket and provide the example message so we can emulate locally.

Hi Ian

Thanks I've installed and that seems to have resolved the issue.
