MailEnable as an archive server?

Post by R4LRetro »

Hello, I'm running MailEnable Professional 10.31.

Wondering if this is possible or not. Almost every week I receive complaints that email is slow, emails are missing, email sucks, etc... yet my users don't want to follow the best practices I keep setting in place. I haven't forced a quota yet because it would most likely stop everyone from using email and the result may end up in disaster. Furthermore, the hardware is a bit dated on the mail server.

I had an idea to move the current MailEnable server to my LAN, and set up a new email server with quotas set. The idea is that my users could log into the old server with webmail and view any emails they would need and use the new server as the daily driver. Is this kind of setup possible? If so, what would need to be changed?

Also, I'm aware of the Archive feature of MTA. However, this created too much overhead on our server and caused issues with users receiving email.
