IMAP dies randomly

Post by R4LRetro »

Hello, running Professional 10.37. Once in a while, users will run into an issue where sending mail appears to go through and appears in their Sent box, but it doesn't actually sync to the recipient.

For example:
  • I send an email to my co-worker: a@example.com > b@example.com
  • My client, which in this case is Thunderbird, shows the message sent successfully and the message appears in my Sent box.
  • b@example.com doesn't have my message. After multiple refreshes, the message still isn't there.
If I restart IMAP service, messages will sync immediately to the clients. I'm not sure why this is happening now. We were previously on 10.32 without this issue. I also recently put a different router in place in front of our mail server, could that have something to do with it?

Actually, this is an issue with my PTR record. I oversighted the fact that the PTR record won't match when I NAT the mail server. Would a PAT work instead of a NAT?
