New SSL Certificate and email stopped working..

Post by Howard »

New certificate and everything stopped..

ME.Pro.10.43
Server 2012 R2 (Soon to be upgraded to 2019)

SSL Wildcard Certificate expired so renewed it.
Imported new Wildcard cert into IIS - Set new binding in IIS - Web site works

Reselected cert under Server/localhost/SSL - no email.

Outlook email client instantly fails all email accounts being checked on the server.

Do I need to assign SMTP to the Certificate or is this something much simpler to fix?

Any Help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you. :)

Check the Debug log for the service that is failing with it. It will indicate the problem with the certificate. It is usually either that the certificate has been imported without the private key, or that permissions are not set on the certificate. The admin program will try to set the permissions when you select it, but you should verify this, and the following article describes how to check the permissions:

Strange problem that was resolved by re-issuing and re-importing the certificate. Thank you for your response to this issue. :)

"Expand the Personal->Certificates branch to list your certificates. Right click the certificate you are going to use and select All Tasks->Manage Private Keys"

Hi, I've encountered several times there is NO "Manage Private Keys" available, ending up removing the auto generated SSL from Let's Encrypt, then re-generate the SSL manually, "Manage Private Keys" appears again, I wonder what might be the problem? Thx.

If the "Manage Private Keys" menu item is missing it means that the certificate does not have a private key and cannot be used. So you would need to delete and import the certificate again with the private key.

Open Mail Enable. Right Click on localhost and hit properties button. Select SSL Tab and select Default SSL Certificate. Click Apply and Ok.
