Active Directory Account Lockout

Post by netblue » Wed Oct 05, 2005 4:43 pm

My users keep getting locked out of Active directory several times a day. Today every user that was logged in at a certain time all got locked out at once. Problem started when we installed mailenable.

Are you using active directory integration?

Does it happen for users that are in different post offices?

If you are using AD integration are you using for all post offices? If you are using and you turn off does this stop the lockouts?

By lockouts are you referring to the account lockout in AD ie authentication fail more than set amount - (set amount is in policy)?

Are there any authentication issues in the logs for these accounts? Check SMTP and POP debug.

Yes, I am using one postOffice with AD Integration. I am indeed referring to an account lockout (the same as entering a password incorrectly). nothing in the logs but normal activity.

Do you mean in your MailEnable logs that you are only seeing the authentication errors? If MailEnable is causing it as you are suggesting here then it can only occur through authentication problems. MailEnable simply passes the password a client has given to it. The best thing to do here is turn on security auditing and then try and match up these windows authentication failures that are giving you lockouts to the MailEnable logs.
