Hi,
This can mean several things but a couple that should be checked are;

1. What are the messages in the queues, you can double click on a message in the SMTP queues section of the ME Admin MMC. This will give you an indication of what messages are waiting there are they spam, bounces etc?

2. How long have the messages been in the queues, again this can be checked in the ME Admin MMC. If you believe the messages have been in the queues for too long then you could adjust the retry counts and the message lifetime intervals in the ME Admin MMC->SMTP Properties->Delivery TAB. More information on this can be found in the MailEnable manuals.

3. If you are talking about the message queues while checking in explorer having legacy messages or command files, then the only way to remove is through stopping the SMTP service and removing manually the files that do not have correlating command files to messages files. If this is the case please ensure that you do not have a resident AV program running also check your logs POP and SMTP for any problems with connections.

Here are some KB articles that explain why messages would be left in the outbound queues and how to diagnose why the messages are getting left.

I've been through most of the forums looking for an answer to this.

We did not have this problem on the previous version until we upgraded to V. 1.6. Pro

Now mail keeps getting stuck in the Inbound queue and the Outbound queue. The only way we can find to get it to continue on it's way is to stop and restart the MTA.

This is cause a lot of headache so we are going to un-install and revert back to the previous version.

Unless anyone has any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

We have not heard anything like this and 1.6 has been out for quite some time, I would suggest that you lodge a support request so support can see some logs and maybe log into the server. You may like to use the log analyzer also to find out why the messages are remaining in the queues, it will alert you to the errors that are occurring.

The link for this is below;

Oh also include this thread link so they can see what has been covered. You can lodge as a defect for no charge.

This is most likely a problem with either the email having an incorrect recipient or the remote server actually being down. Sounds to me that the messages waiting in the outbound queue are legitimate. To test this try the telnet command utility this can show that you cannot send to the server in a more clear and concise manner;
