Windows 2003 and MailEnable
Windows 2003 and MailEnable
Has anyone tried or tested MailEnable on Windows 2003 Standard or Enterprise editions ?
I am thinking of upgrading my servers but not sure if all will run OK.

Versions 1.1 Pro and 1.7 Std have been tested on W2003. We have tested installing the versions on W2003 and this is fine. We have not (as far as I am aware, upgraded an existing server - however, the only forseeable problem is that COM+ behaves a little different and you may need to uncheck an option in COM+ (once upgraded to W2003). This is defined here. http://www.mailenable.com/kb/viewarticle.asp?aid=87

I'm trying to install the Pro version on a 2003 Standard. Honestly I'm having some problems. After the installation everything seems fine, but when I try to use the MailEnable Administrator, it fails:
Snap-in failed to initialize.
Name: <unknown>
CLSID: {829AFC65-DDEF-41DF-B405-6B8092CF3600}
..and then nothing..!
Any ideas ? Actually I was about to buy a professional version, but I need it to run on the 2003 server, so...??
regards,
Steen

Upgraded from 1.113 to 1.115 on Win' Server 2003
Iv'e been successfully using MailEnable from version 1.111 (Professional) and I have also been upgrading from 1.111 to 1.112 to 1.113 with success. BUT, today (25. August), I was upgrading from 1.113 to 1.115 (while also installing an update for Windows Server 2003 and without reastarting before upgrading MailEnable Pro 1.115...) - As a result the snap-in for MMC console fails to initialize. This is the error message:
The Microsoft Management Console returns the following error message:
Snap-in failed to initialize.
Name:<unknown>
CLSID:{829AFC65-DDEF-41DF-B405-6B8092CF3600}
I'll be happy for any suggestions at all...

Please download the latest MEInstaller.exe file from http://www.mailenable.com/hotfix/meinstaller.zip and replace the existing one in your MailEnable BIN directory.
Double click on the executable to run it and select the option to reconfigure MMC components.
The problem was that in some circumstances MMC components would not be re-registered on Windows 2003. This can be noted by the installation taking exessive time to complete.

Re: smtp faile to start
Uninstall Microsoft's SMTP service. It isn't needed if you're running ME. After you've done this...install ME...and you should be able to install without error.webhay wrote:I tryed it in win 2003 but i have problem in smtp server.it faile to start i got this message when i run dignose:

Mailenable and 2003 Web Ed
Has anyone tried Mailenable with Server 2003 Web Edition? I want to set-up two new mail servers and I would love to save the money by using two Web Editions instead of Standard.
Would there be any drawbacks to using Web Edition (other than the licensing not allowing the use of SQL, which would rule out an update to the Enterprise Edition of Mail Enable [Whenever that is]).
Thanks.
