Good day to all. I have my ME server setup to require authentication - that works great and has been for eons.
1) I have a Minolta Bizworks scanner/copier/fax/printer. It has the facility to can scan to email.
2) I also have an HP ML350 server and setup the same feature to email me alerts (Raid failure etc.).
3) Finally, my Cobian backup system has the same feature (email logs etc.), without Authentication Credentials I cannot send email, but with it enabled I can (I'm ok with this).
In cases 1&2, there is no provision for entering Authentication Credentials (they are basically stupid).
How can I allow ME 6.03 to do send these emails without authentication? I believe it is a dumb question as it would bypass my current settings, but thought I would ask anyway.
Thanks everyone.
Sending Email from Scanner.

Re: Sending Email from Scanner.
In SMTP service properties under the Relay tab add the IP addresses of the various senders to the privileged IPs. They can then relay without having to authorise (did the same with our HP printer/scanner combo).

Re: Sending Email from Scanner.
Brett, thanks for the intel. For the Minolta, I actually tried your suggestion and then realized that the ISP IP address for the site where the Minolta is located is dynamic so that would not work in this case. We have found that for the most part the Dynamic doesn't change that often - it did last week after almost a year.
But good to know for future situations with Statics. However, I found (buried deep in Minolta Admin Area) settings for SMTP authentication - so that now works.
For the HP ML350, I did what you suggested and that now works - you are the man.
Many thanks.
