5.7.0 STARTTLS is mandatory

Post by langenet »

I'm thinking on moving forward to setup mailenable. My current server tried to send an email to a client but got this message as a response.

This is why I was unable to deliver your message:
Remote mail server at 192.139.231.4 replied: 530 5.7.0 STARTTLS is mandatory

Does ME support 5.7.0 STARTTLS?

Yes, under the SMTP options in the admin program under the Outbound tab there is a checkbox labelled "Send using TLS if remote server supports it". This should be enabled. It is enabled by default on a new installation. It is possible that if you are relaying through another SMTP service though that they are not supporting this. Check the SMTP Activity log to see if you see the error in the MailEnable logs.
