recovery of a mailbox from a backup
recovery of a mailbox from a backup
if I want to recover a single users mailbox's Inbox from a previous day's backup, do I just need to recover the items from the users Mailroot folder or do I also have to recover the fileroot, indexroot and fileroot?

Re: recovery of a mailbox from a backup
Hi,
The FILEROOT contains the files they may have uploaded via webmail to be stored and the INDEXROOT contains the index files needed for webmail text searching. You don't need to restore the INDEXROOT, but the FILEROOT may need to be recovered if there were any changed files.
For messages these are all under the MAILROOT and when you recover the files just create a blank file called _change.dty in the folder. This will indicate to the mail services that the index for the folder needs to be updated.

perfect, that worked. Same basic solution as my other question . I will have to file that away so I don't have to ask that again.
