ME Scratch Directory Delete Directory & File Issue F-Pro

I have been trying to find an answer to this but cannot. I use F-Prot 6 and I'm having some issues with directories and files not being deleted. When I monitor it, it appears to be working ok but my log file has the following errors and I do end up with stranded directories and files that are not deleted. Ian, can you or Ben assist with this?

I have my MTA setting at 3 and I set my "Process Timeout" within the MTA to 4000. What else can I do here? Any assistance would be appreciated.

This problem has been here for years and I think the actual problem is with F-Prot.

From memory if you use a utility like FileMon, even with real time scanning switched off, you can see for a split second that F-Prot actual has open file handles to files, hence ME cannot delete them.

So what is the solution for someone running F-Prot. Are these viruses still getting routed to the mailboxes unfiltered? It would seem to me that is a problem for both Mailenable and F-Prot. Mailenable does promote compatibility with F-Prot, making MailEnable ultimately responsible for ensuring it continues to work nicely with F-Prot.

Currently my environment is running into this issue on 8.61, not going to update until I'm confident rolling out version 9 won't break my production environment and make me lose clients, I've had issues with updates before that went days without resolution causing A LOT of lost revenue.

Still stuck with a semi broken virus scanner over 2 years after initially posting.

Looooong Time MailEnable Customer
Using Mailenable Enterprise 9.75
Using F-Prot 6 for Virus Scanner.

If I disable file system protection I can get real time scanning to stop catching things in the scratch directory. I can then get the test to run fine. When I apply the new settings for Mail Enable to pass messages to fpscan.exe and check the logs, there are 2 lines with errors and 1 line showing a message has been cleaned. The log ends with "end" and never gets more entries than that.... it just stops working.

In the past I had attempted to decrease the MTA threads to resolve the situation. When the threads were reduced to 1 the logs looked better but message processing became so slow that the server would get backed up within seconds.

The only thing I can do to keep some protection on and keep mail flowing is to allow real time scanning to take place in the scratch directory. This leads to blank messages and various other issues.

We need a solution that will do well with a high volume server. We have tried the included ClamAV software as recently as 6 months ago, but the results surprisingly caused ME to process messages at a rate even slower than fpspan.exe. Any suggestions anyone?
