MailEnable Antispam not working as expected

Post by Momaweb0 » Mon Jul 12, 2010 8:31 pm

Hello this is my first message

I hope you can help me understanding why my MailEnable Antispam is not working as expected.

We just finished installing ME Enterprise Edition 4.23.
These are the steps I followed to configure ME antispam

1) Created post offices and mailboxes
2) Enabled ME antispam (Messaging Manager / Spam Protection / Properties) and set Low=20, Medium=40, High=80.
3) I didn't change Positive and Negative Weighting and left on their default.
4) I also left Bayesian Filter enabled (Mailenable Management / Servers / Localhost / Extension / MailEnable Message Filter / Bayesian Filter)
5) I left Mail default dictionary \Dictionaries\Default\MailEnable.TAB
6) I left "Measure Highest and lowest percentiles of the most frequent tokens"
7) I set autotraining and set an honeypot email address (I didn't set HAM address because I still don't have a good email address
with only legitimate messages)

After 2 weeks, my catch-all address (used as honeypot) is filled of messages of "pure spam" (viagra, [SPAM] online, loans etc)

What I really don't understand is why NONE of these messages is marked as spam
This is an example message... I find incredible that it has -15 !!!

Code: Select all

Received: from ([85.58.44.31]) for <xxx> with MailEnable Catch-All Filter; Mon, 12 Jul 2010 20:21:59 +0200

Return-Path: <vaobyxa4618@orange.es>

This is another incredible example of a message submitted by my via telnet.

Code: Select all

I don't understand!

X-ME-Spam: Low (35),AS:-0,PT:-5,RB:-0,BY:0,VI:-0,BM:-0,SU:-0,IS:-0,FE:40
Return-Path: <buy@viagra.com>
If I try to lower down the limit of spam I get too false positive (=legitimate mail filtered out)
Can anyone help me out?
Thank you so much!

You have to have items in BOTH the Spam and NOSpam locations for the training to work.
